If you’re considering implementing EDI for the first time, you’re bound to have some questions about how the process works. One of the things we get asked about the most here at NetEDI, is how we go about onboarding all your trading partners once you’ve made the decision to go ahead.
In this blog, we’re going to explain how it all works and hopefully put your mind at rest that getting all your trading partners to a place where they can communicate with you via EDI isn’t as complicated as it may seem.
We will handle everything
The first thing you need to know is that we’re experts when it comes to onboarding trading partners for businesses of all sizes and in many different sectors. We have many years’ experience implementing EDI and we will handle absolutely everything for you, including the onboarding process.
Once you’ve decided to benefit from our services, we will send a Letter of Intent out to all your trading partners letting them know of your intention to implement EDI and what this means for them.
If you have a large number of trading partners, then we may decide to focus on the onboarding of your most important ones first. For instance, if you have one or two that account for a large percentage of your business, we’ll make sure they are onboard first and then focus on the rest separately.
Another important thing to remember is that your trading partners don’t have to be our customers in order to communication with you via EDI. We will also send them a message guide so that if they are not one of our customers, they are still able to send and receive messages in the correct way.
Our Onboarding Team
Once you’ve placed your order with us, all your information will first be passed over to our Operations Team so they can make sure we understand your specific requirements. The process then moves on to our dedicated Onboarding Team. Our Onboarding Team are also available to speak to when you’re in the process of deciding whether to engage our services or not, to explain the whole process to you.
The Onboarding Team will handle all the training and testing necessary in order to implement EDI and allow you to communicate with your partners. They take a meticulous approach to making sure that every connection is set up correctly so that you’re able to go live without a hiccough.
In some cases, they request something called a dual feed. This means that your new EDI system will work alongside your old system, replicating your business messages. Nothing will be duplicated in reality, it’s just another way for us to be confident your system is ready to go live before we switch you over to your new EDI system.
A truly scalable system
NeTIX has been designed to be scalable and flexible and will grow as your business does. It’s possible to add new trading partners to your system once it’s already up and running. All you have to do is let us know and we will take care of setting up the new connections for you.
Training on the NeTIX system will be provided for all members of staff that require it and a guide book will also be sent out to you detailing everything you need to know. While you’re training, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about your new, cutting-edge EDI system and to play around with it and make sure you’re 100% comfortable before you switch over.
