NetEDI’s fundraising success
On the 28th September, NetEDI staff took part in a coffee morning and bake sale, to raise money for Macmillan Nurses. As usual, everyone took the opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause and we’re very proud to say that we raised £256.16.
Back in June, one of our software developers sacrificed his impressive beard for the same charity which means that, altogether, we’ve raised £948.16 for Macmillan Nurses this year!
The idea to have a bake sale came about after our Accounts Manager, Wendy, decided to collect 5 pence pieces in the office, as a branch of Marks & Spencer were collecting them for Macmillan. People gave generously, so much so that staff at M&S were quite taken aback and we even received a thank you card from them. Our Systems and Infrastructure Engineer then suggested that we take the idea further and hold a bake sale, so everyone could donate even more and sample some amazing baked treats at the same time. We have quite a few Bake Off fans in the office so, unsurprisingly, it was a huge success and it turns out there’s more than one talented baker in the NetEDI ranks.
Wendy says, “We were again taken aback at how many people brought baked goods in and how generous peoples’ contributions were.”
Let’s learn a little more about the work that the Macmillan Nurses do.
About Macmillan Nurses
Macmillan Nurses specialise in particular types of cancer or cancer treatments and provide invaluable physical and psychological care for cancer sufferers. For the first three years of their post, they are funded by Macmillan, which is why it’s so important to encourage people to raise as much money as possible.
Last year, Macmillan Nurses supported more than 650,000 people and you can learn more about the great work they do on the Macmillan website. If you have a few pennies to spare to help them continue with their work, you can donate here. And if you’d like to organise your own coffee morning, either at your place of work or at home, then you can order your free kit here.
So, a big well done to all staff members who took part in the Macmillan coffee morning, as well as their friends and family members that helped them bake the goodies. We’re already hard at work planning our next fundraising events and we’re pleased to say that we will be collecting toys for Rock FM’s Cash4Kids, Mission Christmas appeal. This great local appeal aims to give children across the UK living in poverty the chance to open a present on Christmas morning.
