Ling Design switches to NetEDI Managed Service
May 7, 2014 – Switching to NetEDI
Put simply, Ling Designs were wanting a better service than what they were currently receiving. By partnering with NetEDI, Ling were able to reduce their costs, increase reliability and automation with tighter integration to its ERP system. Adopting NetEDI’s NeTIX platform has also provided improvements in accessibility, availability and traceability accessing built in functions to track and trace any document reducing the resources required to managing it.
Ling Design was set up as a family business in the 1950s and is now owned by Filofax plc, who bought the company in 1998. As well as supplying the big names, the company also works with independent retailers on the high street and its products are distributed in 25 countries worldwide and printed in many languages.
Originally Ling Designs invested in an on-premise legacy desktop application and the solution was struggling to keep pace with the modern demands of EDI. Not only was it expensive to run and labour intensive to manage, it provided limited data visibility. Ling Designs required a proven managed service with a better return on their investment.
Customer Support was hard to come by and the waiting time in receiving anything near a resolution could take days. “To say the problem resolution with our previous supplier was slow would be being polite. When we had a problem it could take us two or three days to get it sorted. I can’t emphasise enough how good NetEDI’s resolution time is.” explains David Gollop, IT Manager for Ling Designs.
Enter NetEDI. The NeTIX platform addressed all the issues previously experienced and delivered additional benefits to Ling Designs.
NetEDI’s NeTIX Professional enables Ling Designs to connect and communicate the company’s expanding number of trading relationships without the typical ongoing maintenance of hardware or software. NetEDI enables Ling to meet the unique requirements of each trading partner which then provides Ling the visibility necessary to view all critical transactions. This enables the end user to concentrate on expanding their business while putting the majority of the daily tasks previously involved with EDI in the hands of NetEDI.
Every company wants to achieve automation, without hiring an army of users and spending valuable time to accomplish. NetEDI helped Ling achieve its automation goals efficiently and accurately. Finally, the user is given access to NeTIX, NetEDI’s web-based EDI and transaction visibility platform, which provides Ling Designs the ability to search for transactions, acts as a notification system, and more. “The way we did it before, we were blind. It was like posting a letter. You know it’s gone but you don’t know if the person will receive it. That’s always been an issue in the past but with message validation, we can see it’s been received.†reflected David.
