A Warm Welcome to our New Starters!
NetEDI has experienced exceptional growth in the last couple of years. Our growing customer base and technical capabilities means that we’re always on the lookout for talented, diligent individuals who can help us maintain our excellent customer service track record and realise our vision for the future of NetEDI.
With that in mind, we’re very happy to welcome two new starters, Aaron and Fozia, to the team. Aaron and Fozia have both been with us for a few weeks now so we thought it was the perfect time to have a catch up. Let’s find out a little bit more about them and what drew them to NetEDI in the first place.
Q: To kick us off, can you explain a little bit about your roles here at NetEDI?
Aaron: I am a graduate QA Analyst. Basically, I check and test changes and developments built by the development team to make sure they’re correct before they’re deployed to a live set up.
Fozia: I’m involved in testing development changes and making sure that we’re deploying work at a really high standard for our customers.
Q. Can you both tell us a little about your background?
Aaron: I graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a Film Studies degree. My other varied roles include working for an Opticians and running music events in Liverpool City Centre. My pathway to working in QA started in M&S Bank, followed by The Cumberland Building Society.
Fozia: I have always had a passion for the tech industry, and I am currently studying for my Masters in Computing, at University of Central Lancashire, while I work part-time here. When I completed my undergraduate degree, I spent three months in an academy exploring different elements of the computing industry, this included DevOps, Web Application, Bash Scripting, Testing etc. This helped me conclude that testing is the field I want to excel in.
Q. What attracted you to NetEDI?
Aaron: I was drawn to the journey the company has been on. NetEDI had a relatively humble beginning but has experienced a gradual rise over the years to the point where they are now one of the leading B2B EDI solution providers in the UK. My experience with QA has mostly been in banking so I was eager to expand my knowledge and learn more about QA in different sectors.
Fozia: I have always been an individual that strives to be the best version of myself and I feel NetEDI helps me bring that out. Previously, any aspect of testing I have had has always been at University or in my spare time. NetEDI has allowed me to develop my skills in testing and show case what I can do. I was mostly attracted to the idea of being able to learn new elements of testing and EDI solutions.
Q. How have you found your first few weeks at NetEDI?
Aaron: It’s been challenging but really enjoyable, I’ve settled into the QA team nicely.
Fozia: I’ve really enjoyed my first few weeks. I’ve settled in well and everyone here has made me feel very welcome.
Q. What has been your biggest challenge in the job so far?
Aaron: The challenging part of the job hasn’t been anything to do with testing but rather getting used to the many processes and functionalities within the NeTIX Platform.
Fozia: The biggest challenge for me was getting my head around the NeTIX system. The system was very different to my normal every-day testing at University but, with the help of my QA team, I have managed to understand it very well. Practice makes perfect!
Q. What do you enjoy about your role?
Aaron: For me, the best thing about this role is the supportive and collaborative environment. I found everyone to be friendly and approachable.
Fozia: I enjoy working with the people here. The friendly environment has helped me settle in easily.
Q. And lastly, what about downtime? Where would we normally find you outside of work?
Aaron: I’ve recently moved from Carlisle back to my home city of Liverpool and I follow Jurgen Klopp’s red men. Besides technology, my main interests have always been film, art and music – I even worked as a freelance filmmaker before I moved into QA. I also really enjoy European city breaks. My favourites so far have been Berlin and Stockholm.
Fozia: I am from a small town called Nelson which is very scenic and has a lot of countryside. I’m very much into my fitness – this involves daily runs and regular swimming sessions. Due to growing up in the countryside I’ve had lots of exposure to different types of animals, so it’s fair to say I am a big animal lover. I like to visit stables and ride horses. I have a huge family and love spending time with them on family holidays and lodge breaks.
